My philosophy
I believe in the brain and body’s innate ability to heal. My goal is to help the client foster safety within themselves so they can access the tools and resources for emotional resilience and growth.
I believe we are complex systems, our mind and body are deeply interconnected and we are also inextricably intertwined with all living things in the world around us. I believe we are meant to feel the full span of all emotions. The ability to feel without shutting down or becoming overwhelmed, is emotional resilience.
I also believe healing takes time and is not linear. In my sessions, I focus on holding the tension between fostering safety and stability with healing and growth.
My hope is for clients to learn practical coping skills and feel more capable of managing their day-to-day symptoms as well as to engage in deep healing using trauma therapy intervention, Lifespan Integration.
My clients who “graduate from therapy” usually say things like, “I experienced something hard today, and I reacted differently than I used to!” or, “I noticed when I started to feel anxious, and I was able to stop and use one of my coping skills!” or, “I made a mistake, and I didn’t judge myself so harshly for it!” or, “I listened to my intuition today and said, “no”to someone!” These are the kinds of statements that keep me and my clients going.
Some personal facts about me:
I was raised Christian and since deconstructed that faith in my adulthood.
I received my BSW from the University of Arkansas and my MSW from Baylor University.
I love being in nature as much as possible; in the mountains, on the water, in the forest, you name it!
I have a Great Dane mix named Howl.
I constantly have my nose in a book and a deep love for baking.
I’m a Taurus, Enneagram 9, and INFP
